The glow from hundreds of luminaries that greeted guests upon their arrival. The smooth melodies of the Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra. The excitement over the fun and diverse auction items Those were the sights and sounds of the 2007 Pam Saunders Charity Gala. Held on November 17th to honor Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, friends gathered at the historic El Jebel Shrine Center to pay tribute to those who have lost their fight and rally for those still fighting. The evening was a resounding success. Gala patrons danced to the Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra and even got a hot Salsa lesson from AJ Washington and Eulanda Shead. KMGH-Channel 7 anchor Steve Saunders presented a moving video tribute to those who have lost their lives to this dreaded disease. But there was also a message of hope that science and medicine are making strides to beat pancreatic cancer. There was a wide variety of auction items to bid on. Items donated by the National League Champion Colorado Rockies were especially popular. Signed bats from Matt Holliday and Troy Tulowitzki were huge hits, as was a personal breakfast with manager Clint Hurdle. Other auction items included a Denver Nuggets Luxury suite, ski adventures, fine dining and original artwork. A huge thank you goes out to all of our friends who attended the event, and we are extremely grateful to all of the volunteers who made the evening such a success. We look forward to another Pam Saunders Charity Gala, coming in November 2008.
