With the elegant El Jebel Shrine Center Ballroom dressed up in purple, gold and silver, more than 200 people attended the Fifth Annual Pam Saunders Charity Gala on November 15, 2008. Guests followed the glow of tribute luminaries as they entered the ballroom.

The event, held to commemorate Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, featured dance music from the Denver-area band Jump Start, from Star-Pro Entertainment. Kicking out rock, disco and traditional standards, the band was a huge hit. Patrons sampled a wide array of fine food, including scrumptious chocolate fondue, courtesy of the Melting Pot Restaurant.

The evening's master of ceremonies was Denver TV personality from "Colorado & Co." and motivational speaker Mark McIntosh. Mark, with the assistance of Event Coordinator Nancy Saunders, informed guests about the Lorenzen Cancer Foundation's efforts to wipe out pancreatic cancer. A wonderful live and silent auction featured a National League All-Star team signed baseball, a painted flaming party fridge, spa packages, vacation trips and artwork.

One of the auction's most popular items was reserved tickets to a four-course dinner provided by the Melting Pot. In January, 32 friends of the Lorenzen Cancer Foundation will gather together for a feast featuring cheese fondue, salad, meat entrée and chocolate fondue.

The Fifth Annual Pam Saunders Charity Gala helped increase research dollars raised to almost $300,000 as well as created new friends and supporters, and reunited those in the Denver area working so hard to battle this deadly disease.

Thank you to all of our volunteers who donated their time, energy and passion, enabling us to pay tribute to those who have lost the fight, and rally for those still fighting. Remember, together, we can make a difference.
