Pam Saunders, Denver television producer and mother of two young sons, fell to pancreatic cancer in January 2003 at age 44 after a courageous two-year battle. This Drive For The Marker Event is held in her memory -- that of a mother, a wife, a family member, a friend, a talent.

The initial impulse for Drive For The Marker was related to the untimely deaths due to pancreatic cancer of:  Ely Callaway, CEO and Founder of Callaway Golf Company; John Chadwell, President of Pebble Beach Company; and Colonel Gary Lorenzen of the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Drive For The Marker is a fundraising initiative consisting of events and outings at golf courses throughout the U.S. The sponsors also include Callaway Golf Company, Golf Magazine and Pebble Beach Company.

The funds will be used for awareness, education and especially to foster the development of a molecular or genetic “marker” for the earlier diagnosis of pancreatic cancer (such as now exists for prostate cancer).

We simply must find the molecular “marker” that gives us the early warning sign needed to detect and beat Pancreatic Cancer.

The Lorenzen Cancer Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, is dedicated to the fight against pancreatic cancer and operates the top-rated Pancreatica.org resource for researchers, physicians and patients.

Drive For The Marker is a service mark of the Lorenzen Cancer Foundation.
