The impulse for the Drive For The Marker initiative is related to the untimely deaths due to pancreatic cancer of: Ely Callaway, CEO and Founder of Callaway Golf Company; John Chadwell, President of Pebble Beach Company; and Colonel Gary Lorenzen of the U.S. Air Force Academy.

This fundraising initiative consists of a series of closest-to-the-pin contests at golf clubs throughout the U.S.

The raised funds will be used for awareness and especially to directly foster the development of a molecular or genetic marker for the earlier diagnosis of pancreatic cancer (such as now exists for prostate cancer).

The Lorenzen Cancer Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation located in Monterey, California and dedicated to the fight against pancreatic cancer.

Golf Magazine, Callaway Golf and Pebble Beach Company have joined together to support this worthy cause.

The Drive For The Marker initiative is a directed effort aimed at forever changing the tragic human relationship to this disease.
