Thank you for joining our Drive For The
Marker.
About the Mission
Our goal is the earlier diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer. All of
the funds collected in this campaign will be used by the 501(c)(3)
non-profit Lorenzen Cancer Foundation for education, awareness
and especially to foster the development of a marker to aid in
the earlier diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
About the Campaign
Golf courses around the country
are being asked to support this mission by hosting a "closest-to-the-pin"
contest to raise donations for Drive For The Marker. This initiative
is sponsored by Callaway Golf Company, Golf Magazine, Lorenzen
Cancer Foundation and Pebble Beach Company. We will provide all
the prizes and support you need to host a successful event for
your golfers.
About the Specifics
You pick the date for the contest.
Typically, it can be incorporated as an internal event in an
existing scheduled club tournament or it may be on a high-volume
regular play day. Each participant will donate $20 ($15 of which
is tax-deductible) to participate in the closest-to-the-pin contest
and every participant receives a one-year subscription to Golf
Magazine. The winner of the event will receive a limited-edition
Joann Dost trophy pin flag, a Callaway Odyssey putter and a dozen
Callaway golf balls. Please see Prizes list for more details.
About Pancreatic Cancer
Pancreatic cancer is the most virulent
of the major cancers. It causes more than 1% of all deaths in
the U.S. The median duration from diagnosis to demise in advanced
pancreatic cancer (the most common stage at diagnosis) is only
5 to 6 months with good treatment. There currently exists no
marker - no screening or diagnostic test - that can detect this
cancer early enough for proper treatment to save lives. With
your help, we will find the "marker". |
